In Gnostic texts from the Nag Hammadi library, Yaldabaoth is the blind Protarchon generated without a divine consort by Sophia. Manifesting with a serpentine body and a roaring lion's head, he organized the chaotic material realm, established twelve planetary archons, and breathed his stolen divine light into Adam, unaware of the transcendent Pleroma existing infinitely beyond his cosmic domain.
